Going Green in Style

Going Green has a pretty dirty reputation..literally. But the truth is they have a green alternative for almost every product we use! Yep, even hairspray! Ironic, considering my sister and I (jokingly) blame my mother and her excessive use of hairspray in the 80's for the hole in the ozone. In all honesty, I'm not as green as I should be, but I do like to make an effort. Here are a few examples of the way I go green..

All of the Love, Peace & the Planet collection by Tigi contain no parabens, no artificial colors, and no synthetic fragrances. They are good alternative products for hair spray, toussle spray, and texture cream. They even have mouturizing conditioners and shampoos. They are actually having a three for $25 promotion if you buy online right now.

Bare Minerals is God's gift to the cosmetic world. No lie. This stuff is INCREDIBLE! Bare Minerals make-up (other than being the best make-up i've ever used period.) is high in antioxidants, essential oils that your skin requires, fruit extracts, vitamins, marine bioactives, and minerals (duh). There are fewer to no oarabens, oertrichemicals, sulfates, triclosan, synthetic dyes, phthalates..I know what you're thinking..and you have no idea what most of those things are. Let's just say this organic make-up is much safer for your skin than other leading cosmetics.
*Tip: If your face begins to itch after time, 9 chances out of 10 it is the applicator brush. You are either pressing too hard when applying and the bristles are poking your skin or you have been using your brush for longer than three months..which means it's time for a new one.

Since 1990 Nike has had a shoe collecting and recycling program. There are drop centers all over the U.S., Germany, the UK, Netherlands, New Zealand, Australia, and Canada. The recycled shoes are then turned into track surfaces, interlocking gym floor tiles, playground surfacing and even new Nike products. For more info click here.

I never used to be fond of canvas bags. It was so hard to find easy to clean and pretty canvas bags to use. I stumbled upon these a little less than a year ago and they are awesome! They come in all colors and are anywhere from $5 to $12 depending on the size and print on the bag. And that's not even the best part! This bag folds into a tangerine size ball for great storing. You could fit two or three of these in your purse or car easily. And let's face it, spontaneous shopping does happen. Buy online here.

The World's Most Expensive Barbie

She sold today at an auction at Christie's in New York City to an anonymous bidder for $302,500.
This beautiful barbie, created by Australian fine jewelry designer Stefano Canturi, wears a black strapless evening dress and a bejeweled choker, complete with a one-carat square-cut pink diamond. The money is said to go to the American Breast Cancer Society.

Gorgeous Vintage

Hello everyone, sorry for the late post. I've had a busy day. It started out bumpy, got better, got fantastic, then dropped drastically. I found these gorgeous dresses on Etsy. Enjoy :)

Pixie Cut

1. Winona Ryder
2. Keira Knightly
3. Our favorite soccer WAG, Victoria Beckham
4. Elisha Cutbert

Just four of the many beautiful ladies sporting the new pixie cut. I am absolutely in love with this hair cut. It makes them look so elegant and it shapes the face and neck nicely. I, for one, am a little bit of a chicken when it comes to my hair and something as drastic as this cut. But if you are thinking about it and aren't quite ready to make the leap, try a bob. (Much like Miss Beckham's previous do here.) You might just gain the confidence to go all the way. If you don't like the idea of cutting your hair at all, then try going to a wig shop. Try on a pixie style and see how you like it! You might find another hairstyle (or color) you like better. Just have fun with it! And remember your hair will grow back ;)

Show Your True Colors

Okay, I made these palettes of my favorite fall colors.

Fall colors include rich colors such as reds and browns, as well as a variety of muted colors. This fall/winter greys, bronzes, golds, and beige colors are very stylish.

A few suggestions when finding your fall color:

-Take your surrounding into consideration. Bold colors such as royal blue and reds can be pulled off better in an urban setting.

-Nobody said fall colors had to be dull! In fact, this is the time of year to take advantage of glitter and sequence (another plus for me). *Tip: If you're nervous about choosing the right metallic color..match it to your skin tone. Fair skin try silvers, medium skin try bronze, and if you have darker skin wear gold. Once you get comfortable to the glitz go ahead and mix and match!

-Go ahead and wear an eye-popping color! But keep the rest of your outfit simple. Try a mustard dress with black tights and black pumps.

-When in doubt, wear black. Whether its your little black dress or your pant-suit, black is chic all year round.

-Do not fear grey. Grey has been my favorite color for as long as I can remember. A lot of people are afraid it will have a draining affect on them, but grey works the absolute opposite. It gives a nice healthy glow to any skin tone.

Fall Fashion Tips

Autumn is here! That means good-bye sun dresses and bathing suits and helllooo sweaters and boots! Personally, fall fashion is my favorite (: I've always preferred muted colors and layered outfits. Transitioning from summer into fall can sometimes happen a little too fast. Coats, colors, and accessories are the first must-knows when transitioning from summer to winter.

Winter coats, with good reason, intimidate a lot of plus size and petite women. They tend to exaggerate unwanted bulk to bigger or completely swallow smaller ladies. This winter try a trendy trench coat. The tie-about will cinch inches and show your shape better.
Emma Watson wearing Burberry

Trendy glasses can glam up any ultrabasic outfit.
Mary Kate Olsen wearing her own brand Row

Wrap around belts take any outfit to the next level of femininity. Even during sweater season!

Okay, this might seem like an irrelevant "tip", but you all will find out very soon that I am a finger nail polish junkie! My current fave is "You Don't Know Jacques!" by OPI
-the neon nail season is coming to an end. it's time to pull out the greys, golds, bronzes, and beiges

Layer it up! A light dress with colorful stockings is cute and casual. Layer with a coat and scarf on cold days and it's practical!
*Tip: when layering be sure to layer from top to bottom to keep a sleek and slender look*

Kicking off Trendy Fashion

For those of you who don’t know me this blog has been on my to-do list for quite some time. I'm Chelsea and I have a passion for fashion! Here I will write my ideas, tips, and advice I might have involving anything and everything from thrifty shopping, high-end fashion, hair and make-up styles, and trendy clothes for all body types.  There are plenty of fashion blogs on the web and many of them have great style, but hopefully I will be able to add a little flair to set this blog apart from the rest (:
