My Idol; Salvador Dalí

I am a major Salvador Dalí fan and anyone who knows me can coincide. Do when I read about a Dalí-inspired look I was ecstaic!! New York's MoMA sparked the idea for a 100% surreal approach toward fashion. Ugh! I'm in love..

Try it Before You Buy it!

You would never buy an expensive pair of jeans without trying them on, right? Well I wouldn't anyway. And why should you with makeup? If you want to shake up your look with dramatic eyes or lips but are too afraid to spend your money on a lipstick you would never wear, I have a treat for you!! I was browsing through sites and came across Covergirl's Makeup Mirror. You can upload a mugshot of yourself (or use a model's) and try on different looks. Here are a few my sister and I were playing with :p

However, if you like the makeup, it tells you on the right exactly what you are wearing. You can buy it right there online (or go to the store later)! How convenient!

Model's Day Out

We always wonder what models wear on their days off. Well these Couture models spent the day shopping in Paris in their street clothes. I was pretty surprised at simple and easy some of these outfits are...then there are the few that only models in the streets of Paris could pull off. By the way, I would love to spend my day off shopping at Chanel :p lucky girls!

Eyebrows

When somebody says "eyebrows" Anne Hathaway immediately comes to mind. She has perfect eyebrows. I know what you're thinking, that this is the weirdest post ever, and i agree. But trust me, it has deemed itself necessary. I have seen a lot of girls trying to rock the pencil thin trannie look. Not cute.

Here is a diagram (yes a diagram) and a few tips on how to avoid the ugly thin eyebrow look all together.

My first tip would be to get the professionally done. Whether it is wax, threading, or any other method is up to you. This way you avoid mistakes, and usually they will never go too thin.

But if you can't afford to have your eyebrows done, and/or have the confidence in yourself to clean them up with tweezers follow this diagram pictured above. Take an eyeliner pencil and hold it beside your nose. You should only pluck the hair on the opposite side of the eyebrow to that pencil.
If you hold the pencil up and your eyebrow falls short (or you can see skin between the eyebrow and the pencil) your brow needs to grow in.
To find your natural arch, you can use your cheek bone as a guide (as pictured above). For women with a fuller face, you can use your pupils.

The pencil will indicate where your eyebrows arch, this is where it is okay to shape and clean out the hair.

My sister's eyes are small and her eyebrows do not have an exaggerated arch (pictured to the left). Please, remember that everybody's body is unique, even eyebrows. Some ladies will have higher arches than others. Do not get carried away with the plucking. Thin eyebrows are never ever a Do.

Thanks ladies, and sorry for the weird eyebrow rant post.

Royal Wedding

Previously, I posted about the engagement ring given to Kate Middleton by Prince Will. You can click here to view it. Well now it's time for the most fun part for any wedding...the dress! More than 30 designers, including Valentino, Gucci, and Jason Wu, sketched their suggestions for Lady Kate to choose from. Here are a few WWD had to share with us. Now in my opinion, some of these dresses look a little too sophisticated and mature for a young, soon-to-be Princess, whereas others beam with elegance. What do you ladies think?

Off the Shoulder

I (somewhat) took a poll to see whether this look was a Do or a Don't. It turns out, it is a unanimous DO! Which is a huge relief on my part, because I adore this particular vintage 80's look. Not to mention, if you can't find cute off the shoulder tops, it is super easy to make your own. The look works for sweaters, dresses, tops, sweatshirts; giving any casual day a fun fem look.

I had an entire list of videos to share with you all, but the style and simplicity of this video is PERFECT. It is parallel with the style of the shirt, therefore CLICK HERE NOW :)

Simple, chic, vintage. However you want to describe this look it is a definite DO.

Also, I wanted to say sorry for my far-and-few-between style of postings lately. So "sorry"; I will try to be more routine with posts.

Show and Tell

I'm sorry Chanel, O.P.I. and China Glaze but my friends from S. America and I have been exchanging esmalte, or nail polish, reviews and I am VERY excited for this Brazilian polish, Impala. Impala specializes in hair care but has also been credited as one of the largest esmalte producers in Brazil. As of right now the only places you can actually go to the store and buy these polishes are in Brazil, Argentina and Peru..but they will eventually make their way to the US and if you are like me and have a major lack in impatience you can always order them online :D Like I will end up doing. (No worries I'll write my own review then)

What they had to say about Impala;
Now usually neon, light, and metallic colors are really pretty in the bottles, but when you put them on they aren't as bright unless you put multiple cotes on. Multiple cotes usually result in a gupy and thick mess. But apparently Impala is made with a thicker formula so it doesn't have to be coted on, causing the finished look to be much smoother. The end result of the polish is matte, but if you want the shine just add a clear polish.
Also for quite a bit cheaper you get about the same quality as Chanel lacquers. Yeap, no chips, gloss and shine (unless you get matte finishes) and not to mention it is hydrating for the finger nails and cuticles :)
Also Impala has hundreds of colors to choose from :) exciting, huh?

Well that's all on Impala for now! Keep your eyes open :)

*Footnotes; My Own Polish Advice*
Neons- China Glaze is my favorite for brighter (even neon) colors. (My personal favorite being Flip Flop Fantasy.) The good thing about this polish is it isnt matte and doesn't chip. Also the bright colors make you look tan. Bad thing is do to the gloss finish it isn't as neon as you first expect. please avoid neons during the winter. wear metallics like silvers, golds, and bronzes.

Metallics- Texture is perfect for the winter, and what are the holidays without silver and gold? OPI has a very nice holiday selction. Just like China Glaze and Chanel, the polish is higher quality and the selection is endless.

Avoid using quick drying polish. The amount of acetone in them is what causes the paint to chip quickly.

I like a good fire engine red every now and then, but they ALWAYS stain my nails! When this happens I just soak my fingers in white vinegar for about ten minutes and wipe them with a paper towel. Your hands don't smell to pretty but it takes the stains out :)

Always start at the middle of your nail and move to the sides..it looks so much better in the end, trust me.

Zara

Founded in Spain, Zara is often overlooked (mainly by us in the US). The brand is fast fashion. It is a high class look, for a more reasonable price. Below is a few of Zara's newest collections from their lookbook.

Sunglasses

It doesn't matter whether you are in a scorching desert or a iced over tundra, sunglasses are a must have all year round! But this season try to be creative. Frames come in all shapes, colors, and designs so try to step away from the norm. I know sometimes it can be difficult to find frames to fit your face perfectly, but good news, I found a website that you can custom design and fit sunglasses( or even regular glasses).

Designing your own eyewear on this website is easy. You just upload a picture of yourself and select frames. I took a few screenshots of my design :)

The website is http://www.designyourowneyewear.com/ don't be like me and spend hours designing different glasses just for fun hahaha.

Scarf Love

Whether it's chunky, silk, square, long, frilly, or knitted scarves make the greatest accessory during the fall/winter months. It is one item of clothing you really cant go wrong with!

Tying scarves really depend on your own personal style, but for cute tricks to tricky silk scarves click here. This winter try chunkier scarves. They will keep you toasty while look completely chic.

Obrigada Brasil!

Lips

I've never been a lipstick person, until recently. I experiment a lot, since none of my friends wear it either. So far, I have fallen in love with Covergirl's Outlast Lipstain and Chanel Rouge.

The lipstain is about $10 and Chanel's Coco Rouge is $30

Another lipstick I have tried and absolutely loved is MAC. They have literally all shades (not that I would use them all). But hey! be creative ;)

Sara Carbonero Eyes

People always compliment my make-up, but all of the credit should go to make-up tutorials posted on Youtube. I've been thinking about posting my own, but until then here is a Sara Carbonero inspired make-up tutorial that I found EXTREMELY helpful. I've used these same techniques using all different colors :) Enjoy ladies.
